Grandmother in peaceful prayer

Our Story

About Praying Grannies

How It Began

A Kitchen Table and a Burden Too Big to Carry Alone

It started simply — a few grandmothers gathered around a kitchen table, each carrying worries too heavy for one heart. A grandchild drifting from faith. A son-in-law out of work. A nation that seemed to be losing its way. A pastor who needed strength he didn't have.

They prayed. And something shifted — not just in the situations they brought before God, but in them. They felt less alone. More anchored. Reminded that the God who had carried them through decades of life was still listening, still moving, still faithful.

That small circle grew. Word spread quietly, the way good things do. Grandmothers from different towns, different churches, different backgrounds found their way here — drawn by the same conviction: prayer matters, and we are better when we pray together.

Our Mission

To Lift Every Name Before God

Praying Grannies exists to create a faithful, loving community where grandmothers intercede for the needs of families, nations, friends, and the church — believing that God hears and answers prayer.

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people." — 1 Timothy 2:1

Our Vision

A World Covered in Grandmother Prayer

We envision a growing network of praying grandmothers — spanning cities, states, and nations — whose faithful intercession shapes families, softens hearts, and calls down the mercy and grace of God on a world in need.

"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." — Matthew 6:10

What We Believe

Our Core Values

Prayer is Powerful

We believe with our whole hearts that prayer changes things. Not because of who we are, but because of who God is — a Father who hears, who cares, and who acts.

"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." — James 5:16

No One Prays Alone

We were never meant to carry our burdens in isolation. When we pray together, we remind each other that we are held — by God and by one another.

"Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." — Matthew 18:20

Every Name Matters

No request is too small. No person is forgotten. Every name brought before us is lifted before God with the same love and attention.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God." — Luke 12:6

Faith Over Fear

We choose to pray with expectation, not anxiety. We do not know how God will answer, but we trust that He will — in His time, in His way, for our good.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation... present your requests to God." — Philippians 4:6

Rooted in Scripture

Our prayers are shaped by God's Word. We pray what He has promised, trust what He has revealed, and rest in what He has declared to be true.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105

Open to All

You do not need to be a grandmother to belong here. If you carry a burden and believe in prayer, there is a place for you in this circle.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
